Why ODR Logic exists

Outdoor rink teams are expected to make difficult decisions with fragmented information.

Seasonal outdoor ice is affected by changing temperature, solar exposure, wind, humidity, precipitation, refrigeration performance, rink construction, staffing, traffic, maintenance, and local operating expectations.

Yet many rink teams still manage those variables through a collection of weather websites, handwritten notes, spreadsheets, text messages, photographs, and the experience of one or two individuals.

ODR Logic was created to turn that fragmented process into a clearer operating system—one that helps teams understand the current situation, document the decision, coordinate the response, and learn from the result.

Our mission

Help outdoor rink teams make better decisions, protect the ice, and operate more confidently through changing weather.

For the operator

Reduce uncertainty, clarify priorities, and provide a better operating record for each shift and weather event.

For the rink manager

Improve coordination, preserve staff knowledge, and create clearer visibility into risks, actions, and outcomes.

For the organization

Support safer, more consistent operations and stronger reporting for leadership, municipalities, and community stakeholders.

How we work

Practical principles for a weather-driven operating environment.

01

Field-first design

ODR Logic starts with the decisions rink teams make in real weather, under real staffing, timing, equipment, and public-operating constraints.

02

Better decisions, not more data

Weather and operating information only create value when they help the team understand risk, select an action, and explain the reasoning.

03

Learn from every season

Assessments, incidents, actions, and outcomes should become institutional knowledge rather than disappear when the season ends or staff changes.

04

Operator trust

Guidance should identify assumptions, risks, confidence, and unresolved questions instead of presenting uncertain recommendations as guarantees.

Experience supported by evidence

Good advice improves when the operating record is clear.

ODR Logic connects field experience with documented conditions, actions, incidents, maintenance, weather, and results. That allows the team to evaluate what actually happened rather than rely only on memory.

  • Review similar conditions from previous seasons
  • Compare recommendations with observed outcomes
  • Preserve lessons across staff and leadership changes
  • Identify recurring operating risks and opportunities
