☀

Solar-load protection

Reflective full-rink coverage helps reduce direct solar exposure during vulnerable weather periods.

°

Warm-weather planning

Support operating decisions when sunlight, air temperature, and surface conditions threaten usable ice.

☂

Weather-event response

Integrate protection into planning for rain, snow, wind, and rapidly changing weather conditions.

✦

Healthier ice conditions

Use protection as part of a broader strategy to preserve cleaner, more stable skating surfaces.

More than reflective material

A full-rink protection system built around real operating conditions.

The material is only one part of the solution. Effective protection also requires correct sizing, staging, overlap, weighting, labor planning, wind awareness, timing, removal, inspection, and storage.

ODR Logic combines reflective protection material with the operational knowledge needed to use it deliberately during sun, warmth, rain, snow, and other weather-driven events.

  • Complete full-rink coverage planning
  • Wind-aware deployment and overlap direction
  • Staffing, weighting, removal, and storage guidance
  • Optional seasonal consulting and platform support

How the system works

Plan the deployment before the weather arrives.

The operating plan should be established before staff are standing rinkside with a forecast deteriorating and the wind increasing.

01

Assess the rink and risk

Review rink dimensions, layout, sun exposure, prevailing wind, storage, staffing, forecast risk, and current operating practices.

02

Build the full-rink plan

Determine material quantity, staging area, installation starting wall, overlap direction, weighting, staffing, and removal sequence.

03

Deploy with the weather

Install complete rink coverage according to the operating window and wind-aware deployment plan. Spot or partial coverage is not the operating standard.

04

Remove, inspect, and learn

Remove the system safely, inspect the surface and material, document the result, dry or clean sections as needed, and prepare for storage or redeployment.

ODR Logic coverage standard

Protection guidance is based on complete full-rink coverage or no coverage. Spot, edge-only, zone-only, and partial operating coverage are not recommended as the protection strategy.

Weather-informed deployment

Know when conditions support deployment—and when they do not.

Protection decisions must consider more than air temperature. Wind, gusts, direction, precipitation, solar exposure, cloud cover, surface condition, staffing, and the expected duration of the event all affect the operating plan.

  • Review forecast timing and event duration
  • Plan the starting wall using wind direction
  • Align overlap direction with the deployment sequence
  • Avoid unsafe or unrealistic last-minute instructions
  • Document deployment and the observed ice outcome

Part of a broader operating strategy

Protect the surface, then evaluate the result.

The Ice Protection System does not replace refrigeration, resurfacing, weather monitoring, maintenance, or experienced operating judgment. It gives rink teams another practical tool for managing exposure and preserving usable ice.

Reduce direct exposure

Help shield the rink surface from solar loading during appropriate operating windows.

Support recovery planning

Coordinate protection with resurfacing, refrigeration, inspection, and reopening decisions.

Build better seasonal records

Document the event, deployment, labor, conditions, and observed result.

Performance and safety notice

Results vary based on weather, refrigeration capacity, rink construction, existing ice condition, installation quality, wind, staffing, and operating decisions. ODR Logic does not guarantee a specific temperature reduction, number of preserved operating days, or financial result. Deployment must follow site-specific safety practices and local requirements.
